Fintech entrepreneur Priyanka Kanwar got hitched to California-based Nikhil Singh, a member of ByteDance’s global strategy and investment team, in a riveting destination wedding in Thailand. Planned to perfection by Shaadi Squad, the festivities were brimming with fun and energy, much like the couple themselves! Watch it all unfold.

Wedding Venue
Jetting off to the tropical locales of Thailand with their loved ones, the couple headed to Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort for their wedding. The stunning oceanfront resort was chosen for the celebration for its relaxed atmosphere, charming architecture, and sentimental appeal for the bride.

Wedding Planning
With cherished loved ones traveling from all corners of the globe to partake in the festivities, the couple wanted their 3-day wedding celebration to be infused with intimacy, joy, and warmth. Each event was meticulously crafted by Team Shaadi Squad to embody the couple’s shared values of familial bonds and an aesthetic of elegant minimalism.

Sharing their insight into the experience, Tina Tharwani and Saurabh Malhotra of Shaadi Squad share, “Shaadi Squad joined the wedding journey approximately 7 to 8 months before the big day. With the bride in Delhi and the groom in the US, most of the coordination and engagement centered around Priyanka, her family, and our team. Although interactions with Nikhil began later in the planning process, the collaboration remained seamless. Before the wedding, our team organized about three trips to Thailand, which were to finalize the venue and plan every detail. This wasn’t your typical wedding affair. Rather, it was a vibrant 100-person party woven with timeless rituals.”

They add, “Striking a balance between festivity and tradition, the itinerary was thoughtfully curated to ensure guests could join in the celebrations without feeling overwhelmed, and even find time to unwind by the pool and indulge in massages. Instead of the conventional ground transport, guests were treated to exhilarating rides in tuk-tuks, providing an authentic taste of Koh Samui. The entertainment lineup, tailored for this grand Punjabi affair, featured the talents of Rashmeet Kaur, Juggy D, and RDB, whose lively performances had guests dancing to catchy beats. Priyanka, a meticulous bride with a keen eye for detail, was actively involved in every aspect of planning, with unwavering support from her mother and brother, ensuring smooth coordination with our team. Working with such a dynamic couple who prioritized enjoyment not only for themselves but also for their guests was truly a delight, resulting in an unforgettable wedding experience for all involved.”

As an island destination, the weather can be rather uncertain, adding an element of unpredictability to the proceedings. They continue, “The looming possibility of rain was a constant concern, something we vigilantly monitored. There was a light drizzle in the lead-up to the event. Anticipating rather wet weather, we decided to relocate the Sangeet to an alternate venue within the resort, a spontaneous adjustment made in response to the rain forecast. It was the seamless collaboration of all teams, each contributing their utmost to ensure the smooth execution of the event despite all challenges.”

Wedding Functions
Sundowner
The festivities commenced with a Sundowner event that was infused with a touch of whimsy. Hosted at a beach club, the welcome party featured rousing electronic dance music, inventive cocktails, and a delectable spread of international cuisine for everyone to enjoy and mingle over.

Mehndi
The outdoor Mehndi ceremony paid homage to Priyanka and Nikhil’s fond childhood memories of Delhi Gymkhana Club and Delhi Golf Club. The vibrant decor saw fabric tassels, rich cushions, and origami birds. Traditional English tea cakes and candy floss were incorporated to add a touch of nostalgia as guests enjoyed the refreshing tender coconut water, lush tropical greenery, and charming music, and got their hands painted with henna.

Sangeet
The sangeet event combined the vibrancy of a Thai full moon party with the family’s cherished 70s disco theme for a night of unmatched revelries. Shimmering tinsel, disco balls, and neon signs added their flare to the glamorous occasion, as everyone let their hair down and partied the night away.

Wedding
In a charming twist, both the bride and groom had their own baraat processions, culminating in a sunset Sikh wedding overlooking the stunning Anantara beach.

The groom’s fondness for Juggy D was no secret, and the bride orchestrated the ultimate surprise by arranging for a live performance by the artist during the groom’s baraat. The procession, complete with Juggy D aboard a truck, led the enthusiastic Baratis and the groom to the beach where the wedding festivities unfolded.

Not to be outdone in the revelry, the bride insisted on her own baraat. Traditional Punjabi Dhol-walas set the tone with lively music as they accompanied her procession.

What made the affair truly memorable was the departure of both baraats from their respective rooms at the same time, with half the party following the bride’s procession, while the remaining joined the groom’s. Both the groups met at the beach, where a spontaneous dance-off ensued before Juggy D took the stage, igniting a full-blown dance party that lasted about 30 minutes. With spirits soaring, the festivities seamlessly transitioned into the wedding ceremony, which was infused with romance by the delicate decor of blush drapes, flowers, fairy lights, and mirrors.

Reception
An informal beach Reception brought the festivities to a lively close. Featuring a vintage beach club ambiance and a playlist of classic English music that holds special meaning for the family, the celebration was everything the newlyweds could wish for!
