With two well-known names of Bollywood deciding to tie the knot, one can be sure that a major frenzy will ensue! Such was the case with actress Katrina Kaif and actor Vicky Kaushal’s wedding. Katrina, who’s been in the industry for more than a decade and has been a lead actress in many hit films working with all the top heroes since, had everyone on tenterhooks on what her wedding looks will be like. Finally after much speculation, the bride released pictures of her three-day festivities that showcased her love for traditional Indian lehengas. Here’s a glimpse of her wedding wardrobe.
Mehndi
For the Mehndi, Katrina exuded Rajasthani vibes with her multi-colored matka silk lehenga that was paired with a patchwork blouse that had pops of color and antique bazubands on the sleeves. Accompanying this was a delicate tulle dupatta that was draped around her shoulders while she got mehndi patterned on her palms. With fringed embellishments, brass sequins, prints and heavily embroidered borders, this lehenga artfully mixed nomadic Indian folk culture spiked with tradition. On her neck, the bride wore a statement necklace encrusted with navratna which was fringed with sapphire dropstones. Additionally, a pair of matching earrings and maang tikka completed her look. For the makeup, the very beautiful Katrina kept it distinctly simple with a nude pout and clean skin with her hair loose around the shoulders.
Haldi
Playful and high spirited, the Haldi was the most playful of all the functions. Dressed in an ivory lehenga with gold gota patti work, Katrina’s haldi lehenga with its light hue struck a beautiful contrast with the haldi that her loved ones slathered on her. Accessorised with floral jewellery crafted out of mogra flowers, the bride looked picture perfect as she smiled for the lenses.
Sundowner
For her sundowner, Katrina chose to pay homage to her mother’s British roots with a vintage-inspired couture sari with a trailing veil. Resembling a white wedding gown with its fitted silhouette, the delicate pastel-hued tulle saree was embroidered with hand-cut English flower studded with semi-precious gems and crystals. Accessorising this look was a statement choker necklace and matching earrings encrusted with uncut diamonds, opals and emeralds.
Wedding
Looking straight out of a desi fairytale, Katrina’s wedding look was in sync with traditions in a beautiful red hue. Crafted out of matka silk with intricate tilla work and velvet zardozi borders, this lehenga was a showstopper to say the least. Paying homage to Vicky’s Punjabi roots, Katrina completed her outfit with a custom-trimmed veil.
Encrusted with uncut diamonds and forged out of 22-karat gold, the jewelry also made a resounding statement as the bride donned a matching matha patti, necklace, jhumkas, hathphool and kadas. Suspended from her wrists were also a pair of beautiful custom-made kaleerein that flaunted multiple layers, red enameled details, pipal pattis and handmade tassels. Another pair of kaleerein featured coins with messages from the bride herself and suspended messenger doves.
With her hair slicked back in a tight bun adorned with gajra, Katrina again kept her makeup simple which in turn allowed her outfit and jewelry to shine through!
