Yatin and Nigel’s Platinum Love Story

Everyone dreams of fairy tales, romance, and happy endings. Real love, however, is a lifelong friend and partner, someone who not only celebrates your highs but also supports you through the challenging times. Friendship like this is the hallmark of Yatin and Nigel’s love story.
Yatin Mistry, a London-born Gujarati Mindset Coach and Entrepreneur, and Nigel Beard, a London-born Sri Lankan-Sengalese Yoga, and Group Fitness Instructor met through a mutual friend 9 years ago during a Navratri party. Despite an immediate attraction, they took their time to get to know each other before jumping into a relationship. The friendship they cultivated fostered a deep connection, which only strengthened once they moved in together.
The ease and comfort they share with each other has helped them get through every challenge they have faced. Nigel shares, “We both come from very different professional backgrounds. So, when we left our life in London to start a real estate venture in Manchester, it was a big adjustment both professionally and personally for us. We had to downgrade to a more modest living situation, and budget everything. Still, we found a way to make all that work. However, I soon realized the job was not for me. Yatin has always had an instinct for business, but I wasn’t content with the work and could not connect with it, and that was bringing me down. Yatin and I are always honest with each other even if it means it’s not the most comfortable thing to say, because we have learnt to create a dialogue about our differences. So when I expressed my feelings, he not only understood, but also made me feel comforted and loved. He listened to all my doubts and fears, and patiently encouraged me to take some time, take stock and figure out what I wanted to do. I have always been dedicated to fitness training, and realised that I wanted to pursue a career as a fitness instructor. He helped me with the transition and supported me every step of the way.”
Yatin shares, “As a life coach, I get to interact with people from all walks of life, and one of the most basic principles in life for success and happiness is to be true to yourself. When we started our business together, I was of course thrilled to get the chance to work with Nigel and share that part of our life as well, but it was undoubtedly challenging to live and work in a confined space. A few months into it, I could see that he was feeling discontent, and it’s not easy to be straightforward when emotions are in the mix. In our relationship, there is no room for judgment even if we have differences from time to time because we inherently care for each other. I put his mind at ease the best I could and encouraged him to follow his own path, whatever it may be because I would always have his back. The sense of fulfilment he felt doing that not just made him happier, but me as well, and in the long run, helped us both succeed in our own ventures. The experience brought us even closer together and even helped us navigate some of the challenges of the Pandemic, such as the lockdown and other professional ups and downs we faced during the time. We can rely on each other for anything and always be ourselves, without fear of any judgement.”
