DESTINATION SPOTLIGHT
Oman was the destination in the spotlight at the WeddingSutra Grand Engage. A hotspot for lavish Indian weddings, it is fast becoming a go-to wedding location for modern couples who have an eye for picturesque locations and taste for luxury. Lubaina Sheerazi, the India Representative of Oman’s Ministry of Tourism, launched the latest television commercial showcasing the adventurous side of Oman. She said, “Oman offers the most amazing landscapes, excellent air connectivity, simplified visa processes and flexibility in adapting to the needs of the Indian weddings, all of which have made it a perfect choice for destination weddings. The country offers plenty of picture-perfect backdrops that are ideal for photo and video shoots, and we are delighted to associate with WeddingSutra Grand Engage and the WeddingSutra Photography Awards.”

DIALOGUES THAT INSPIRED
Emcee Vishaal Rasquina guided the audience engagingly through the agenda of the back-to-back events. This event also included three stimulating panel discussions that informed and inspired guests.
Should modern to-be-wed couples opt for outdoor celebrations or indoor events? What if a client wants their personal chefs and catering set up in a hotel? What should one keep in mind before opting for exotic locations for a lavish destination wedding? Throwing light on all these questions were participants of the first panel discussion titled SHIFTING TRENDS IN DESTINATION WEDDINGS: New Locations, New Demands, New in Luxury. The panelists, all leading names in their fields, included fashion maestro Sandeep Khosla (Co-founder of Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla label), Pavithran Nambiar (General Manager of JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu), Sanjay Vazirani (Managing Director of FoodLink), Mahesh Shirodkar (Managing Director of Tamarind Global), Sumant Jayakrishnan (Founder of Scenografia Sumant), and Vandana Mohan (Founder of The Wedding Design Company). Brides today have a many timeless and trendy choices when it comes to shopping for their weddings. How does a brand succeed in creating a buzz via social media? Weddings are emotional events, so how can companies use emotions creatively to touch hearts? How are companies designing products – from jewellery to fashion and makeup – to suit the tastes of discerning brides in India? Deepa Harris, Founder and CEO of BrandsWeLove, moderated the second panel discussion titled SPENDING FOR THE BIG DAY AND BEYOND: How Fashion and Beauty Brands can target Millennial Brides. Panelists included fashion designer Anita Dongre (Founder of House of Anita Dongre), Tina Tahiliani Parikh (Executive Director of Ensemble), Deepika Tewari (Head of Marketing, Tanishq), Sachin Jain (Managing Director of Forevermark) and Purnima Lamba (Head of Innovation at Lakme).
