Shilpa and Isaac’s Platinum Love Story

For US-based makeup artist Shilpa Koshy Cacho, her dreams knew no bounds. From traveling the world to breaking beauty stereotypes for South Asian women in the west, she’s done it all. Growing up she was often held back by societal, cultural, and gender expectations, undermining her confidence and sense of self-worth. And while she worked hard to stand up for herself and fight for what she wanted and deserves, it was when she met Isaac Cacho, a member of the US Airforce at the time and now her business partner, that she felt accepted and appreciated unconditionally. Isaac loved her the way she loved herself, the way she deserved, and became her constant while also giving her the space and encouragement to be her authentic self.
Shilpa shares, “For a long time following my dreams was a constant struggle against convention and what was deemed acceptable by society. I was often snubbed for hoping to succeed as a makeup artist, as it was not seen as a promising career path. And my dream of taking time to travel and soak in other cultures, staying away from home and family was just ridiculed to the point I often felt guilty for even thinking of it. Turning a deaf ear to all the naysayers and focusing on loving myself and living my life took a lot, and it all changed for the better when I met Isaac. In an environment that values stability over chasing your dreams, Isaac constantly gives me the confidence to go after what I want with no hesitation. From supporting my decision to quit jobs that don’t fulfil me, to diving in with both feet into my plan of selling everything to travel around the globe gathering experiences, he gives my goals and desires the same importance he does his own, and is a true partner in every sense of the word. We dated for a short while before getting married, and many tried to warn me against it, and he blew every doubt aside by seeing me loving me for exactly who I am, every minute of every day, and continues to do so.”
Isaac shares, “I am always blown away by Shilpa’s courage to stand up for what she believes in, and for never stopping till she achieves her dreams. She is my constant source of inspiration. But what really motivates me is that she believes in me, and my capabilities, and drives me to aim higher. Growing up I had limited exposure to the world and the infinite possibilities of what one could do with their life. Things like a college education and building a successful career were never encouraged and seemed beyond reach. Shilpa helped me realise my own potential and worth like never before, and showed me by example that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. Today while my life partner is also my business partner for a flourishing online venture, with her encouragement I am also getting a degree in Real Estate and living a life full of more love and positivity than I ever thought possible.”
