Potterheads in love: This couple’s Harry Potter-themed wedding proposal will make you go ‘awww!’

Ardent Harry Potter fans to their very core, Meher and Dr Agni Kumar Bose have known each other since school. However, as fate would have it, they reunited and fell head over heels in love. And, when it came to popping the question to Meher, Agni just had to make it special with a Potter-themed proposal orchestrated beautifully by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Vow Weavers.
Sharing how they first crossed paths and the dynamic they shared Agni says, “Meher was two years senior to me in school and was the ‘it’ girl. I did nurture a crush on her but we were too far apart. A conversation just never happened. Strangely, we were Facebook friends though!
Fast forward to 10 years, Meher has been living in Singapore post-school. I’m a doctor in Bombay. I never thought about her even once during these past 10 years. However, one day we randomly started a conversation out of the blue as I replied to one of her stories on social media. A month later, she was travelling to Mumbai and invited me to have a few drinks with her batchmates. That night, I believe was pure destiny as we kept on conversing and have remained best friends in love ever since.”
The Proposal
The proposal was elaborately planned by Agni and he popped the question to Meher on the very day she was least expecting. He shares, “When I discussed my proposal plans with my Ma, she suggested that I ask her on Basant Panchami which is an auspicious day for Hindus. Coincidentally, this was the same date as Valentine’s Day. Usually, proposing on Valentine’s Day is considered cheesy and I knew that Meher would never expect me to do such a thing. This was the perfect opportunity to catch her unaware.”
With the plan in motion, Agni set about finding the perfect photographers to capture their wedding proposal. He chose The Vow Weavers who impressed him with their enthusiasm and professionalism. Agni shares, “The only idea that I had thought of till I went to The Vow Weavers was having the Golden Snitch as the ring holder. The way they coordinated everything from decor, photos and videos to even doing an on-site recce of the villa to get all the measurements; this level of dedication was so heartening to see and experience.” The decor included polaroids of the couple along with several elements that were in sync with the theme. Harry’s owl ‘Hedwig’, the sign of the Deathly Hallows at the entrance, a Poké Ball and heartfelt messages suspended from the ceiling surprised Meher as she entered the venue.
Agni adds, “The Harry Potter book series has been an integral part of our formative years. Meher, especially, loves the books. Even our dog is named Padfoot, after Sirius Black who is Harry’s godfather. It was thus a no-brainer that the proposal had to be in Harry Potter style. I presented her with the ring in a Golden Snitch and to my pleasure, she was so excited! I did include my love for Pokemon in the proposal as well as I said, ‘Roses are red, violets are blue, if you were a Pokemon, I’d choose you’”
