Love Actually – Pankhuri and Ravi’s Platinum Day of Love
Love Actually - May 9, 2016
Our initiative ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates beautiful people in love as they start their lives together: because real love can only begin, never end.
It’s well said that opposites attract. “Not only our choices were different but also we hailed from opposite directions,” Ravi smiles.
They are software engineers and worked for the same company in the U.S. But one was in the East and another happened to be from the West Coast. However, destiny had something else in store for them.
“Against all odds, she got transferred to the West Coast, and incidentally we happened to work on the same project,” Ravi recalls.
Gradually, colleagues turned out to be good friends. They got along very well—a cup of coffee and several hours of talk made them feel at ease.
“Something just clicked—something that made us come closer. It wasn’t love at first sight. Not an infatuation either. We took our time to understand each other. Every time I looked at her it made me smile. She is the perfect combination of innocence, strength, compassion and love,” Ravi adds.
Yes there was an official proposal! He proposed her in the most beautiful way possible. “He proposed me at his own house with a setting so beautiful that I could not hold back my tears,” Pankhuri recalls. “All those clicked memories neatly dangled in the room that was entirely lit up. Champagne and a beautiful ring awaited me there. The pathway was garnished with rose petals and the background score played my favourite genre—love songs. He secretly even managed to capture the whole thing on video without letting me know so that we can cherish these memories forever.”
And they were engaged!
Their ‘Day of Love’: “He took me to the Cheesecake factory at 12 midnight. I had no clue about what was going on. It was November 22, 2014, the day we actually fell in love, a day that states that we were meant for each other. One year later, we went to the same place to celebrate the day,” Pankhuri adds.
Ravi adds, “I’ve never believed in soul mates but she is the one I am supposed to spend the rest of my life with.”
March 11 at Cidade de Goa, Dauna Paula, a beach wedding took place. Amidst those colourful tents, the beige mud and the welcoming beach, Ravi and Pankhuri were hitched. And Maldives was their honeymoon destination. “We had the best time of our lives there. The place is ethereal and so beautiful.”
“Finding true love, falling in love, getting hitched and amidst all the odds planning a wedding, an experience you must have,” Pankhuri suggests.
