Knot just Weddings

We launched WeddingSutra in 2000, and in the first few years since our launch we got an opportunity to interact with a few Wedding Photographers only. Fast forward to 2014- we talk to several photographers every day. The big change in the last few years is the number of highly talented and creative young men and women who are opting for a career in Wedding Photography & Cinematography.

One of the Photographers we interact regularly with is Anand Rathi who alongwith his partner Abhinav Sah runs ‘Knot in Focus’. The story of how Anand and Abhinav, both engineers met is interesting. Says Anand Rathi: “I had just returned from the US to take up a job in Pune and I was getting married in Jaipur, I spent a lot of time on the web checking the work of different photographers and I approached Abhinav Sah whose work I really liked and he photographed my wedding. Me and Abhinav interacted quite a bit during the pre-wedding shoot and the three day festivities, and we became good friends.” Anand, who spent the early years of his career hedging cash flows, was always interested in photography. “I picked up my first camera as an MBA student and by the end of my MBA I knew I wanted to be a photographer.” Anand and Abhinav would meet over weekends, where the two dreamers would discuss the camera and documenting weddings. Soon, the duo decided to give up their stable corporate jobs to pursue wedding photography as a full-time career. Explains Abhinav: “I am often asked what motivated me to become a wedding photographer. Having more than 12 years of experience in Film Visual effects in both Bollywood and Hollywood, creating aesthetic visuals has always been a part of my life. Over the years, my love for photography has slowly turned from just a hobby to something I breathe and live.”

Anand and Abhinav have organised an exhibition to showcase their captures, stories from destination and home town weddings shot over the last few years. “We invite you to see what happens when corporate careers are given up for the pursuit of passion. We invite you to experience how beautiful fleeting moments can be. 7th to 12th April, 2014 we at Knotinfocus invite you to see the ART side of Indian weddings.”
