Iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo inspired these quirky wedding invitations by Pink Whistle Man
Wedding Invitations & Stationery - Jul 1, 2020
Wedding invitations, whether paper, boxed or digital ones, often showcase the vibes of weddings before the celebrations have commenced. Neil and Priya’s wedding invitations, designed by Rajani Iyengar of Pink Whistle Man, were all about the distinctive influences of Mexico where the couple tied the knot. Paying homage to the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo with an Indian twist, the invites also drew inspiration from the couple’s landmark romantic moments.
Priya and Neil’s fascination for Mexican culture started when they started watching the show ‘Taco Chronicles’ on Netflix. They chose to tie the knot in Mexico while bringing alive the country’s architecture, colors and essence in their wedding invitation designs.
Mexico-inspired Papel Picado, Alebrijes and Talavera tiles were incorporated in abundance into the designs, and Priya was depicted like a Frida Kahlo-esque Indian bride. Neil, on the other hand, was given a stylish groom’s appearance in the quirky stylized caricatures.
The locations depicted in the cards, that were encased in tangerine yellow envelopes, included mosaic art from Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens where the couple had their first date, and Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay with it’s towering manmade trees where Neil proposed Priya.
