Gopika and Viraj’s beautiful wedding celebrated the couple’s diverse backgrounds with style and spirit
Wedding Photography & Films - Aug 20, 2019
While speaking about Gopika, Viraj quotes author F. Scott Fitzgerald, saying, “She’s the beginning of everything… she’s the big bang of my existence, quite overwhelming, indomitable, a touch scary at times, I’m incomplete without her.” Such is the romance of the couple who tied the knot recently in New Delhi. Marked by sophistication and style, here’s how Viraj and Gopika’s wedding was put together by the bride’s aunts.
Wedding Planning
While Viraj comes from a modest, academic family comprising of loved ones with Malayali, Bengali and Goan backgrounds, Gopika’s Punjabi kith and kin are all about gregarious spirits. The wedding saw the coming together of two different families which made everything unique. Having taken charge of the entire wedding in their hands, bride Gopika’s formidable aunts who are also the matriarchs of the family, Rohini and Radhika Bhushan, ensured that no stone was left unturned in the process of designing and executing the opulent affair. Everything, from the decor and cutlery to the bride’s hair and makeup, were finalized under the personal attention of the two.
Wedding Functions
Gopika and Viraj’s wedding festivities included three functions. Each event was planned meticulously by the bride’s aunts who kept the aesthetic preferences of the families and guests in mind. Every ceremony was put together in a classy and regal way, and the decor impressed all.
Sangeet
Gopika’s navy blue sangeet outfit was inspired by Cinderella’s ball gown. The dreamy outfit was accentuated with a diamond neck piece, a glamorous hairstyle and sultry maroon lips. Viraj complemented her vibe with a matching quilted navy blue bandhgala ensemble.
The decor for the night was done up in luscious shades of maroon and red. Exotic flora like roses and lush greens alongside mirrors, drapes, and lamp posts contributed to the exquisite vibe of the sangeet soiree and made the entire venue look spectacular.
Mehendi
For the mehendi, Gopika was dressed in a purple hand-embroidered lehenga paired with a yellow dupatta. She kept her hair open and makeup minimal. Her traditional danglers added glamour to her subtle look. Viraj opted for a kurta which he teamed with a Nehru jacket.
Wedding
For the wedding, Gopika wore a heavily embellished double shaded velvet lehenga that subtly progressed from shades of pink to lavender and wine. Her bridal look was complete with traditional heirloom kundan jewellery that had been in her family for generations. Her purple bridal veil enhanced the elegance of her outfit and jewellery. Viraj looked dapper in an intricately printed ivory sherwani paired with a pink Benarasi silk turban, and an ornate golden brooch.
The decor for the wedding had a peach and salmon color palette. Blooming floral centrepieces, lush leafy trails, suspended bouquets and magnificently adorned flowing peach drapes made the venue look like it was straight out of a fairytale.
