From work partners to life partners, this couple leveled up their love with a grand fort wedding
Wedding Planning - Aug 25, 2022
Shuchita Baranwal, the head of design at a gaming startup and Vikas Taneja, the founder of a gaming startup first met at work during the peak of the pandemic.
How We Met
In the midst of the first wave, Shuchita and Vikas met during her interview where the duo strictly discussed work. However, things accelerated after a fun office party where the pair shared long conversations. As if drawn by some invisible force, they’d end up in each other’s company on office trips and get-togethers repeatedly.
The Proposal
As they started dating, both of them quickly realized that this was the beginning of a new chapter. To pop the magical question that would change their lives, Vikas whisked Shuchita to Goa, one of his favorite destinations in the world. Shuchita recollects, “At Goa, we were accompanied by our friends. True to his style, Vikas kept the proposal simple with a few surprises in store from me! Later on, during our trip to the Maldives, he surprised me with a private beachside dinner setup where we exchanged rings!”
Wedding Functions
Cocktail Party
The wedding celebration kicked off with a breezy yet glam cocktail party decorated with LED signs, disco balls and a vintage boombox. All through the night, the couple swayed to the beats of their favorite tracks, mingled with their friends and enjoyed a plethora of creatively curated drinks!
Mehendi
Next was the Mehndi Mela where the couple fused the best of desi and contemporary elements to create a colorful atmosphere. Filled with white and pink florals that were paired with pink and purple drapes, the event was distinctly feminine with a dash of quirkiness. However, the highlight of the event was the gorgeous floral arch that flanked the bride’s seating area.
Sangeet
Clubbing the engagement and sangeet together, the couple enjoyed an evening brimming with contemporary glamor and romance. Shuchita shares, “The evening was so much fun with amp speakers, a chevron printed monochromatic dance floor, synchronized dance moves, a DJ and fun shenanigans that included balancing a glass of whiskey on the head!”
Haldi
Absolutely desi and traditional in spirit, the haldi was a morning event. Echoing the cheer of the sunshine were multiple garlands of bright yellow marigolds that were interspersed with white blooms. A floral shower of the couple and playful moments punctuated the event where everyone was dressed in hues of yellow. Shuchita shares, “The pictures reflect the pure joy that filled us that day. It was the most jovial and colorful Haldi celebration in the most beautiful space I could have imagined.”
Wedding
For the big day in January, no stone was left unturned as the couple orchestrated a regal wedding. The bride shares, “I personally designed our wedding logo and wedding invitation card and ensured that all in the wedding decor was per our theme and liking. On the wedding day, we were blessed by the rain gods with a cool shower. And as the temperature dropped, we accepted each other on this beautiful memorable night in front of our loved ones with love, immense joy and umbrellas! The mandap was adorned with foliage and after the wedding, we hosted a quiet meet and greet at the same venue where we took several pictures under a canopy of suspended blooms with our guests.”
