Dipesh’s Impressive Wedding Proposal in New York City

Move over Shahrukh Khan, King of Romance, there’s a new contender in town.
Dipesh’s elaborately planned, big-hearted wedding proposal to his leading lady Twinkle was straight from the silver screen and made her feel like a movie star. Here, she tells us a little about their love story and the day Dipesh popped the question like a champagne cork!
How We Met
The couple met in college, having enrolled in the same cultural dance team. Twinkle says, “We met at Cornell University, where we both channeled our inner Gujju as part of the Cornell Raas dance team.” Their dance form wasn’t ballroom but they managed to waltz into each other’s hearts. She says, “We dated for a little over seven years and then Dipesh decided to take things to the next level by planning one of the most romantic proposals ever! I felt like Kajol as the entire wedding proposal felt straight out of a Bollywood movie. I am still in shock!”
The Proposal
Dipesh pulled off an elegant, elaborate gesture at Battery Park, NYC, and the whole experience was just surreal.
The day started in a private yacht he chartered in downtown Manhattan. Twinkle says, “We joked and danced to ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ on the yacht passing iconic landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. As the boat turned back towards the breathtaking views of the World Trade Center, he suddenly blindfolded me as we approached the marina.”
Unable to see, all Twinkle could hear was a mystifying thunderous cheering and applause. She says, “As he took off my blindfold, I was stunned to find over 70 of our family and friends standing on a bridge in front of us holding signs that together read “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”
As the boat came to a halt, Bruno Mars’ song “Marry Me” began to play and he got down on one knee. He popped the question and through many tears of joy, Twinkle said “YES”!
Still grinning she says, “I am thrilled to have met my dream prince, my best-friend, and I am still in disbelief over this fairytale proposal. This wedding proposal means a lot to Dipesh and me, and we would love to share our journey with everyone!”
