Bridal Beginnings at Zoya- Ankita Doshi
Bridal Fashion and Beauty - Jan 14, 2015
‘Jewels of the Rajputana’ – Zoya’s most exquisite and grand collection of the year pays tribute to the magnificent legacy of the Rajputs. Camels, kotah painters, the golden desert, swirling skirts, mirror work, colorful turbans, intricate leatherwork and the culture’s noble and courageous history, are all elements that served as muses to design Zoya’s latest majestic collection, crafted with the finest polki in unique settings, exquisite handcrafted enameling & also embellished with precious stones. Inspired by this unique collection, we hosted our latestBridal Beginnings shoot at Zoya for which we invited three brides-to-be to be a part of this shoot. Here, in the second of the three-part series, we feature Ankita Doshi.
The Jewels she wore
Ankita wore a two sided neck-piece designed with nakashi work, shining polki jhumka earrings, and a striking headpiece created with pirohi work and conical setting of polki. Her look was further accessorized with an enamel adorned peacock ring and a bracelet, capturing the dazzling movements of a peacock and an assortment of polkis making a glimpse through a veil of rubies.
Bridal Look
Ankita picked a pink bridal lehenga by Anita Dongre embroidered with gota pati and zardosi work. She says, “I loved the bright color of the lehenga and felt it was perfect for me as soon as I tried it on. It was teamed with a pink blouse with machine dori work and a contrasting orange dupatta with hand embroidery.”
For her makeup, Makeup Artist Kumar Iyer first used a Chanel Vita Lumiere foundation underneath the eyes. He then emphasized her eyes with a Shu Uemura eyeshadow in various shades of gold, curled her lashes using a Shu Uemura curler and finished by using the Hypnose by Lancome mascara. He tinted her cheeks with the Posietint in Poppy-pink by Benefit, and used the same on her lips with a touch of high shine gloss by Dior.
For her hairstyle, Kumar says, “Ankita has extremely long hair, so before styling it, I first sectioned and braided it. Then, I created a turban with her own hair and only used a real hair patch over the turban of braids, which immediately gave her face a lift. Overall, the hairstyle was simple and chic, the tiered necklace we used as a headpiece was the highlight and gave her a regal bride look.”
