Ace makeup artist Amrita Sanghavi takes Bride-to-be Kshipra Beauty Shopping with Lakmé
Bridal Fashion and Beauty - Jul 22, 2014
Many brides-to-be want to know what regime they should follow so they glow naturally and look stunning in the days leading up to their wedding. Bride-to-be Kshipra Jain from Mumbai asked us the same question when we interacted with her on email. So WeddingSutra and Lakmé decided to take her shopping for beauty products with a little help from ace makeup artist Amrita Sanghavi.
Kshipra’s top Skin Concerns
Kshipra was concerned about her oily T-zone, dry skin and very dry lips. Amrita advised her that moisturizing the skin is essential. Oily skin doesn’t imply hydrated skin. So she needs to moisturize with an oil-free moisturizer before she starts makeup.
Amrita showed her how to prep her skin with the Lakmé Absolute Skin Gloss Gel Crème and then create a base with Lakmé Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse foundation. “Dry lips are a sign that the body is not adequately hydrated. So drinking ample water and including juices and coconut water in your diet will really help,” advised Amrita. “In her choice of makeup, I felt she should avoid pro-long wear lipsticks as they can dry her lips further. Instead she should moisturize her lips and use the Lakmé Absolute Gloss Stylist. The glossy finish will reflect light and hide the cracked lips.”

Amrita’s Top Makeup Picks for Kshipra
“Kshipra needs to add three essentials to her makeup kit – a lip and cheek tint, an eyebrow-filler and an eyelash curler, which will work wonders.
Cheek and lip tints stain the skin and look natural, so they are ideal for hot and humid weather. They stain the skin and there is no fear of having them run down the face on rainy days. Eyebrows frame your face, so always ensure that they are shaped well, and use waterproof mascara and liners this monsoon.”

“I love the Lakmé Absolute Gloss Addict long-stay lip colours for the fresh, sheer gloss look, which instantly brightens up the face.

I would also definitely recommend the Lakmé Absolute Forever Silk Eyeliner in blue, green, grey and black. The shades are intense and complement Indian skin tones. The liner is easy to use, glides on smoothly and doesn’t smudge easily.

Of course, if you want to create a smokey look, smudge it upwards and outwards and blend well to get a nice shadow effect.”
Kshipra’s Beauty Shopping Experience
“I was excited that WeddingSutra had invited me for this beauty shopping experience, especially since it was an opportunity to learn from makeup artist Amrita Sanghavi, who I had heard a lot about. I was informed by WeddingSutra that Amrita will help me pick products from the Lakmé Absolute range, a brand I love and regularly use. I walked into the Lakmé Absolute Salon in Bandra, I loved its ambience and their friendly staff showed me around the salon. Amrita and I then discussed makeup looks and tips to help with my makeup regime. We talked about eye makeup ideas, what lip colours would suit my skin tone, and how to go from day to night looks, among other things.
It was an amazing one-on-one session and Amrita was very helpful in guiding me about the right kind of makeup for my skin.
What I Learnt about my Beauty Regimen
“Amrita gave me some easy-to-remember and easy-to-follow skin care tips. Regarding makeup, Amrita explained the difference between makeup that is ideal for a day look and that which is apt for a night look. For instance, intense and elaborate eye makeup is perfect for the night and would look overdone in the day. Also, if you focus on the eyes, then try not to wear a very bright lipstick. Ideally, only one part of the face should be highlighted.
Many brides-to-be are unaware of the makeup that suits them and what look they can carry off. An experience like this has made me very clear about my approach to makeup. Amrita made me feel really confident about my skin and also showed me how I could actually look on my wedding day, which was really exciting for me.
I would like to thank WeddingSutra for this brilliant concept and giving me an opportunity to be a part of it.”
