A Sikh-Sindhi fusion wedding in Singapore that explored the city’s choicest venues

Whether it’s a girl who has grown up dreaming about her wedding, or a man who has just started planning his, every couple wants their big day to be meaningful and memorable. When Amar Prith and Karan envisioned their big day, they hired WeddingSutra Favorite – Impressario Inc to transform their dreams into reality.
While their Anand Karaj took place at the Central Sikh Gurdwara, Singapore, a number of premium venues across Singapore played host to their reception and pre-wedding functions. Satish Punjabi of Impressario Inc says, “Locations play such an essential role in setting the tone at a wedding. Therefore, each venue was chosen after careful consideration in order to match the vibe that we were looking to create on that particular occasion.”
A contemporary welcome dinner at the Royal Taj, Singapore, marked the start of the celebrations. The chic spaces were dominated by a palette of blue and white with golden and deep brown accents. Satish shares, “Since the Amar Prith and Karan were looking for something that was very modern and clean, the Royal Taj made for a fitting venue for this function. Keeping in line with the aesthetics they wanted, we brought in white blooms that were placed in glass vases which made for pretty centerpieces.”
The mehndi ceremony took place the next morning at the bride’s house. An intimate affair, this function was attended only by the couple’s nearest and dearest. The highlight of the setup was the bridal seating that featured designs and bright colours that are synonymous to Indian celebrations. A wide seat with a back that featured intricately carved paisley motifs, the kind that is often seen as part of a mehndi design, made for the bridal seating. Pretty pink and white drapes were used to create the backdrop.
A ‘ghari pooja’ ceremony was performed by the groom’s family at Swissôtel The Stamford hotel, after which the couple wed as per Sikh and Sindhi rituals. The bride was resplendent in a pink lehenga that showcased intricate floral embroidery. Karan, on the other hand, complimented her outfit by picking out a golden sherwani for himself.
Their celebrations concluded with a grand reception at Fairmont Singapore. The decor followed a blush, white and golden color scheme, and each element added to the elegance of the setup. Shimmering drapes and sparkling chandeliers made for the backdrop for the cake-cutting ceremony. The five-tiered cake was crafted to match the decor design and was decorated using pastel flowers similar to those used as the centerpiece. In the center of the ballroom was a white dance floor, and the couple’s first dance was followed by performances by their friends and family.
